Making Ends Meet in America During the Economic Shutdown

By Head Roc

I am writing this piece one day after it was due to my editor at Kapital Magazine. Why?

The reason is that I have been so busy working to find ways to make ends meet, that I have not had the mental wherewithal to even consider what to write about.

Why have I been so busy working to make ends meet? My reason is a commonly shared one among millions of Americans affected by the economic shutdown, scapegoated as the COVID-19 Pandemic. An economic shutdown induced by America’s continued enabling of White Supremacy, which is engineered by the Sons and Daughters of the Founding Fathers.

(Ahhh… the Founding Fathers… a common thread in Capitol Resistance writing. Now I think I am back on track!)

Sure, I have thought about what to write about for the next Capitol Resistance thought piece for Kapital Magazine. For those following along, I’ve been on this “Founding Fathers” lecture of sorts over several months now. The reason why is because we’ve all been living through an extremely difficult time in American History. A time that has been hard to process for many. My heart goes out to those deeply affected by the changes taking place in America. As White Supremacy continues resisting its victim’s demands for accountability, justice, and reparations, billions will suffer in the wake of organized activity to silence them.

I say billions because there are more people involved in this movement calling for a change in the global paradigm governing everyday life than just Americans. A paradigm set by the world’s most prolific conquerors, colonizers, and nation builders to date. The Founding Fathers were born of this club and founded the USA to make the fruits of imperialism more equitable and accessible for them: White Men. Done so in concert with their European kinfolk, the Founding Fathers’ creation of the USA was done so to revolutionize and improve the functionality and effectiveness of the White Supremacy rule.

(This piece is now 2 days late for delivery to my editor at Kapital Mag. As I said at the onset, I have been super busy, working to make ends meet.)

The success of their efforts can be measured in the national response to protect Americans with high health against the potential ravages of COVID-19. Initially, the national response was pretty much no response at all. The leaders of this country watched the results of COVID-19 exposure travel around the world from Asia to Europe and then the States. Making itself known to the world as a serious threat to human life, the Federal Government leadership dismissed the deadlier than normal and reportedly new SARS respiratory virus as something that would magically go away when the 2020 Spring and Summer months kicked in. We now know that was not to be the case. As I write this, today March 26, 2021, the national death toll is at 547,000. Why so high the number of deaths for this 1st world nation purportedly armed with the best scientists and medical professionals in the world? The answer is simple and, yes, you guessed it…

Racism.

It is abundantly reported that African Americans experience COVID-19 deaths disproportionately in the US. From my observation, when the news first broke about this, is when the Feds and some states immediately began to downplay the seriousness of COVID-19.  I remember cringing at every news report announcing the disturbing trend that America’s Black populations were the ones suffering the most by proportion. I cringed because the Sons and Daughters of the Founding Fathers, most Americans, don’t care about Black Americans dying more from COVID-19 complications. History tells us they wouldn’t care.

They, the Sons and Daughters of the Founding Fathers, were likely to become even more enraged because of the reporting. Yes, even more enraged. Already being held accountable for centuries-long mistreatment of Black Americans at the hands of law enforcement and the justice system, the Sons and Daughters of the Founding Fathers were indeed already super pissed. It’s no secret, they are fearful THEIR country is being taken away from them by non-white, non-heterosexual, non-men, and they have vowed to not let that happen. January 6, 2021, the Trump Insurrection Day, will forever serve as a testament to their resolve.

Just like Black Lives Matter doesn’t matter to them, Black Health doesn’t either. Duh! So, there can be no controversy in stating the obvious: Black Economic Survivability matters even less.

(It is now Friday, April 2, 2021, as I work to finish off this piece… oh man am I late!!)

But here’s the thing about America. To hurt non-White Americans, America is willing to hurt White Americans, not in a financial position to weather the storm. My proof? I just got back from checking my mailbox to see if the latest stimulus check has arrived. I don’t mind sharing that I am eligible for the $1400, and I mind even less letting it be known that $1400 is nowhere near enough. The $600 before wasn’t enough. The $1200 before that wasn’t enough.

Let’s add that all up. $1400 + $600 + $1200 = $3200.

$3200 of emergency financial assistance for Americans over 12 months. That averages out to $266.66 a month in direct cash assistance to tax eligible working taxpayers from the wallet of The Greatest Nation on Earth. I know there were other programs and provisions included in the COVID-19 relief packages to help, again, eligible working taxpaying Americans. The difference between those programs and the direct payments is that that required paperwork – more than just the 2019 tax filings.

Paperwork. Paperwork is a nemesis to many. It is to me in some instances, especially those where the paperwork asks for an arm, a leg, and a pint of blood in personal information. I could go on and on about the roadblocks the lawmakers put in place to prevent the American People from accessing the wealth of the nation. I won’t. I’ll only say, “Remember US History!” and ask the question: when has this Great Nation ever been proactive about helping ALL Americans, in an equitable way, to survive a crisis? The answer is “never”, and the reason why is rooted in the nation’s founding, or its original intent.

The original intent of the Founding Fathers was to create a nation for themselves. A nation of “Whites” ruling supremely over all others. This part is a fact. The Sons and Daughters of the Founding Fathers take seriously as they fulfill their oaths and legislative duties to preserve, protect and defend the United States of America from all enemies foreign and domestic.

Here’s my question. If the Founding Fathers were alive today, seeing the power non-whites have accumulated since 1776 in all segments of American society, would they consider those non-whites an enemy? It kind of sounds like a ridiculously unnecessary question to ask, I admit. Until you take into account the overwhelmingly white Congressional leadership, consisting of both Democrats and Republicans, who have seen it fit to only issue American direct financial relief 3 times in the past year.

Here’s how some other Western Developed countries compare:

Italy: $900 (£711) per month
Spain: $1,150 (£905) per month
Iceland: up to 75% of wages
UK: up to $3,175 (£2.5k) per month

As you can see, the governments listed above provide quite a sizable economic support for their citizens. Why? Well, to me it’s obvious. Those nations are governed and run, by and large, by the indigenous peoples of those lands. Read it again. Those nations listed above are not colonized lands where the descendants of the invading people are in power. Those nations listed have a vested interest to support their populations during these extraordinary times. Dare I say, those nations, for the most part, actually love their people enough to open “The Bag” and share the national wealth for a spell to benefit their respective nations’ as a whole.

Read that again and yes, I am saying what you’re thinking. The only reason why Americans have been helped so little is that helping us out in any way that would indicate a true and genuine concern for the whole of the American population, goes against the vision of the Founding Fathers and their intent. That being the case, and I know that it is, I have been triple busy working to make ends meet and doing so outside the confines suggested to me by the “System”.

Well lookee here, it seems I’m done with my work here, finally. Hey, it’s only a week past the deadline. I want to apologize to Kapital Magazine for the late submission. Also, I want to thank Kapital Magazine for being one of those means outside the system that have held me down and helped me survive in between COVID-19 pandemic relief checks. Truth is, I have a few Kapital Magazine situations (streams of income) I trust and rely on to survive America’s Founding Fathers’ intent. Here’s to getting next month’s submission in on time or even earlier. 😊
